I woke to a dark, freezing room and my half-clad body felt stretched and bruised all over. I stumbled to the toilet and saw my two cats hiding in the bathroom cupboard. Entering the living room to adjust the heat, I noticed the large window of my ground-floor apartment was wide open. My hands trembled as I shut the window. In the kitchen, the bottle of red wine from the night before, had strange, pinkish crumbles at the bottom. The usually noisy, upstairs neighbors were completely silent. The Police took a report and told me I should change my locks, again.
